A vacancy has arisen at St Joseph's College for a permanent Principal Teacher of Pupil Support. The post will involve supporting the learning and behavioural needs of young people enrolled in the school. The holder of this post will work closely with staff, Parents/Carers and Partner Agencies to ensure the best educational outcomes for all young people with any support need.
Successful candidates will also undertake teacher duties as per SNCT handbook Part 2: Section 2. As such, we would welcome interest from suitably experienced and registered secondary teachers.

Requirements
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

In line with Section 21 (2A) of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 the successful candidate for this post will require to have the approval of the Roman Catholic Church. Applicants are advised that it is their responsibility to obtain such approval and this must be done at the same time as submitting the application form. Please note - Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session. In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with Dumfries and Galloway Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue pay and leave. In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and pay and leave will be adjusted.
