The predicted salary is between 22844 - 23234 £ per year.

You will be required to work 32.5 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year. Locharmoss Mechanical Biological Treatment plant (MBT) processes municipal waste collected across the Dumfries & Galloway region. The Hygiene Operator plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant MBT facility by controlling contamination, supporting infection prevention, and identifying hazards. The role helps protect employees, contractors, and visitors while ensuring efficient waste treatment operations.

The Hygiene Operative is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness & hygiene across the MBT facility. The role supports safe operations by reducing health risks associated with waste processing, including dust, bio-aerosols, spillages, and contamination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out routine and deep cleaning of:
  • tipping hall floors and walls
  • processing areas (including around conveyors & shredders where safe)
  • walkways, steps, handrails, and platforms
  • Removing waste residue, spillages, and build-up of organic material to prevent slip, trip, and health hazards.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
  • You will need to be physically fit and able to work in a busy industrial environment. You will have a good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Hygiene requirements in a waste management facility. You will be required to work both independently and as a member of the wider team. Previous experience of working in a waste disposal environment and operating plant equipment (Telehandler) would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided. You will be educated to Standard Grade Level.
