Health and Fitness Instructor Annan £12,372 - £13,140. You will be required to work 16 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Fitness Instructor to join our team in Newington Leisure Centre, Annan. If you’re passionate about helping people lead healthier, more active lives, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact every day.
As part of our team, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience—from motivating individuals during one‑to‑one sessions to delivering high‑energy group fitness classes. You’ll also support the safe and effective operation of our fitness facilities, ensuring every visitor enjoys a positive, professional, and welcoming environment.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

We are looking for someone who brings energy, professionalism, and a genuinely customer‑focused approach. Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, outgoing manner are essential. Basic IT skills and familiarity with Scuba, our leisure management system, are desirable.
Ideal candidates will hold:
- Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification
- Exercise to Music qualification
- Current registration with the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 2 or above
We also welcome applicants who currently hold only one of these qualifications, as additional training may be available. A First Aid certificate and knowledge of Health and Safety are advantageous.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
