We are seeking to appoint a dynamic leader with vision and a passion for learning who will, along with a management team, lead learning at Rephad Primary School, which includes a Nursery setting and, from August 2025, a new Learning Centre. The position offers an exciting opportunity to shape educational provision and is supported by a Depute Headteacher, Learning Centre Principal Teacher, and Nursery Manager.

Rephad Primary is situated in the picturesque market town of Stranraer in Dumfries and Galloway, overlooking Loch Ryan and the Ailsa Craig to the north. The school is located in the east of the town beside Stranraer Academy. It has easy access to the A75 towards Dumfries and the A77 leading to Ayr and Glasgow. The school has an excellent reputation within the local community, a welcoming ethos, supportive parents, a friendly staff team, and enthusiastic students.

We seek a leader ready for an exciting challenge in leading a vibrant school community. You will have a vision and a passion for improving outcomes for all and for meeting the needs of every child. As Headteacher, you will lead the school’s improvement agenda and drive development priorities with a professional staff team. The community is proud of the school’s long-standing service to the east of Stranraer and surrounding areas.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT.

This post involves regulated work with vulnerable children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check before the employment offer is finalized by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
