We are seeking a highly organised and professional Facilities Services Support Officer to support the effective delivery of Catering, Cleaning, and Janitorial services across our estate. The postholder will play a key role in ensuring compliance, maintaining service standards, and supporting safe, well‑managed environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned unit audits and inspections, producing accurate reports to ensure compliance with Health & Safety, the Food Safety Act, Food and Drink in Schools (Scotland) Regulations 2020, Environmental Health requirements, and HNI standards.
- Develop and implement communication systems to share audit outcomes across Facilities Services.
- Use Microsoft applications, including Teams, Outlook, and Excel, to support service delivery and reporting.
- Support the implementation of service plans and maintain effective communication at local and corporate levels.
- Ensure all services comply with Health & Safety legislation and COSHH (2002).
- Monitor service quality through regular on‑site checks and “walk the floor” activity.
- Support catering services with menu development, recipe analysis, compliant food labelling, allergen communication, and maintenance of the special diet database.
- Support cleaning and janitorial services, including staff training on Health & Safety and COSHH, site compliance checks, and adherence to key‑holding and security procedures.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
