Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a skilled Vehicle & Plant Mechanic to support its vehicle maintenance operations at our Garroch workshop in Dumfries. You'll be part of a professional, well-organised team working in a modern, fully equipped facility.

Your Role

You’ll be responsible for maintaining the Council’s wide-ranging fleet, which includes:

  • Small plant equipment
  • Trailers
  • HGVs and buses
  • Minibuses, vans, and cars
  • Specialist vehicles used in front-line operations

Tasks will include scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, test preparation, and repairs in line with Transport and Health & Safety legislation. There is also potential to train as a Class IV, V, and VII MOT tester.

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility to support overtime and participate in a standby rota as needed
  • Full driving licence is essential
  • LGV/PSV licence is desirable
