The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

You will be responsible for supporting the council in influencing the health and safety culture and ensuring compliance with all aspects of health and safety legislation and industry best practice.

The Council Health and Safety Team works with a wide range of front-line services such as Education, Social Work Services, Sport and Leisure Centres, Waste Services, Roads, Customer Services, Community Assets, Building and Civil Engineering Works to enable them to support our communities across the Dumfries and Galloway region.

Three Health and Safety Officer posts are available for recruitment. Particular focus areas are Waste, Building and Civil Engineering works and Education.

You will provide health and safety advice and work closely with managers, employees and safety representatives in mitigating health and safety risks and engage on practical solutions; and pro-actively monitor, audit and review health and safety arrangements for continuous improvement.

You will be enabling the delivery of essential services to the community.

You will work in a supportive Health and Safety Team with engaged line management.

To enable staff career progression, we are offering this position for those qualified and partly qualified. This will mean if you meet the essential education qualification for the band 11 specification you will immediately commence on that band.
