Based at Dumfries Ice Bowl, we are looking to fill 1x36 hour Leisure Attendant Post, which will cover a wide range of duties within the facility. This post will include shift work including weekends and evenings.

We require a passionate and enthusiastic individual to work as part of a team carrying out general leisure attendant duties. These duties will include:

  • Always ensuring customer safety
  • Ice stewarding
  • Communicating effectively with members of the public and staff
  • Undertaking cleaning duties
  • Set-up/set-down of sports equipment in a safe environment
  • Assisting in the ice making process
  • Assisting with general maintenance tasks

You will also assist in actively promoting Dumfries Ice Bowl and Leisure and Sport activities.

Experience of working with the public, children and customer care is essential, and you will ideally have experience of working in a Leisure Centre. You must also be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative. A First Aid certificate, basic leisure qualification and the ability to skate are desirable.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

Part-time hours would be considered for this post. This post is fixed term for up to 12 months and may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
