This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious individual to join our leadership team at Dumfries and Galloway Council. As a member of the Council’s Management Team, you will work closely  with other Chief Officers and Elected Members to deliver the council’s vision and ambition for our region. You will lead innovation across the organisation, focused on improving customer experience and expanding digital services. Bringing together transformation of customer services, digital capability and workforce development, you will have an important role in supporting the future sustainability of council services and resources.

You will have responsibility for the strategic leadership of Customer and Digital services, empowering and supporting your teams to help them flourish, and help and advise other council services to meet customer needs and develop their workforce.

\n

We are seeking a resilient, visible and forward-thinking leader with a track record of success at a senior level within a complex organisation. You should be educated to degree standard or equivalent.

\n

Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead new ways of working and thinking that stimulate and challenge are essential in this role. An appreciation and understanding of working within a political environment are essential. The successful candidate will be persuasive and value dialogue with citizens, communities and council staff to shape opportunities for service change. A strategic approach and vision to deliver change, service improvement, development and implementation of policies, partnership working, financial planning and people management skills together with a strong customer focus is essential.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

\n Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
