Dumfries and Galloway Council aim to encourage more people of all ages and abilities to actively participate in sport and physical activity. The Active Schools and Community Sport Team are seeking to recruit additional qualified coaches to deliver within our Active Schools programme on a casual basis across different locations within our local authority.

We are looking for coaches that are enthusiastic and of a pleasant manner to coach a range of sports and activities including: badminton, netball, dance, cycling, rugby, racket sports, cricket, athletics and multi-sport sessions.

Applicants that meet the following criteria are invited to apply for these posts:

  • UKCC Level 1 or 2 qualification or equivalent
  • Experience of working with participants
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and pleasant manner
  • Reliable and good timekeeping
  • A current driving licence would be an advantage

Placing on pay scale is according to qualifications and experience. The delivery and instruction of activities will take place during the daytime, after school sessions, evenings and weekends for which this rate of pay is inclusive.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
