We are an aging population with people living longer, which means there are more older people than ever in our communities that require support and practical help to enable them to stay safely and independently in their own homes. With a person-centred approach, this rewarding opportunity will see you working with people (predominantly over the age of 65) providing individual personalised support in their own homes whilst encouraging them to build upon their abilities.

Tasks are varied and are likely to include:

  • Supporting with personal care
  • Assisting with medication
  • Preparation and cooking of meals
  • Any other activity appropriate to the individual's needs within their home

If you are caring, friendly, positive, and cheerful with excellent communication skills and an ability to work with minimum supervision, this could be a very rewarding role for you. A current full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is essential, as you will be required to travel to each service user's homes. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

An SVQ level 2 in Social Care or equivalent is desirable but not essential initially as full training will be provided; however, you will be required to complete this. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
