Hecklegirth Primary School is a vibrant and inclusive school at the heart of the Annan community, serving 196 children across our mainstream and Learning Centre classes, alongside a Nursery of 87 children. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed Depute Headteacher to join our leadership team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader with a passion for learning and a proven track record in school improvement. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership skills, high-quality teaching expertise across all stages, and a commitment to improving outcomes for all learners.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Depute Headteacher will help shape the strategic direction of the school, lead curricular development, and champion learning, teaching and pastoral care. Working in partnership with staff, families and the wider community, they will play a vital role in sustaining improvement, raising attainment and ensuring the very best outcomes for every child.

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 may be available to the successful candidate (Permanent positions only). Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
