An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Senior Social Worker within the Integrated Flow Team based at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. This is a time of significant change for the Social Work Service in Dumfries & Galloway and the Health & Social Care Sector generally.

You will be a qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 3 years practice. You must be able to demonstrate continued professional development and should either hold or be willing to work towards a recognised post qualifying award.

You will manage a team that includes Social Workers and Assessment and Support Coordinators, supporting the planning and delivery of Social Work Services on a single and multi-disciplinary basis. You will also work in partnership to develop and expand the Interface hub.

You will be committed to the development of the service and to producing the best possible outcomes for our service users. You will have an excellent knowledge of Adult Services legislation and an understanding of the main strategic and policy developments relevant to Social Work, as well as Council policies and procedures. You will also have a clear understanding of the impact of ill health and disability on our service users and their Carers.

In addition to this, it is essential that you have excellent communication skills and are able to build and sustain professional relationships across all of our partner agencies, and work productively and effectively in a team context. You will also have good organisational and administrative skills, an understanding of business systems and competence in the use of computers.

Finally, you will be able to demonstrate high levels of self-motivation and initiative allied to strong professional integrity and a commitment to working as a member of the management team. You will need to think creatively and innovatively and be accountable for your own work and that of your team.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

You will also need to be registered with the SSSC. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
