You will work 7.5 hours per week (1.5 hours daily β estimated 8.20am-9.20am, and 2.50pm-3.20pm weekdays) over 38 weeks per year.
You will assist school pupils in crossing a potentially busy highway, undertake duties concerned with the safe passage of school children and other pedestrians across the road to and from school. For example:
- Control and direction of traffic at crossing areas
- Operation of hazard warning signs
- Identification of any roadside hazards
The control of the behaviour of children at crossing areas is a major requirement of the job. The post will involve working in all weather conditions.
The post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. As from 28 February 2011, preferred candidates are required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries.
