Job Description
Cook 1 (10/1203) (Fixed Term)
Stranraer
£11,152.71 – £11,204.35
Based at the Ryan Centre, Stranraer for 16.75 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year based on a three-week rota, you will undertake, normally under the direction of a higher graded operative in a kitchen, the preparation, simple cooking and serving of food. This will include weekend work and occasional evening work.
The duties will include basic preparation of food and beverages (for example preparation of vegetables and snacks); simple cooking (for example reconstitution of prepared food); serving of meals; general kitchen and café duties (for example washing up, setting up and cleaning away equipment and tables); and cleaning of the kitchen, its surrounds and equipment.
Dealing with customers on a daily basis, you will have excellent communication and telephone skills, while being able to work under pressure. Being the first point of contact for customers in the cafe, you will be enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable on the café menu and Ryan Centre programme and will assist and promote key Leisure and Sport activities and services.
It is essential to have a Basic food hygiene certificate. You will have experience in cash handling and dealing with members of the public.
In return you will join an energetic community focused team in Wigtownshire who are developing and delivering a wide variety of Leisure and Sport and catering provision.
