Based at Dumfries Ice Bowl, we are seeking a Casual Cook 4 to manage and plan duties of site-based catering staff to ensure activities in a small kitchen and its surrounds are connected with the provision of the catering service. This post will include shift work including weekends and evenings. We require a passionate and enthusiastic individual to work in a small kitchen.
The main duties of the role include:
- Front of house duties
- Food preparation
- Event planning
- Cooking for a wide range of customers
- Working alongside our user groups
Training staff will be a part of the role and ensuring they are aware of requirements and legislation. General duties include stock management, ordering, equipment monitoring and ensuring compliance with all relevant guidelines and legislation. You will assist in actively promoting Dumfries Ice Bowl and Leisure and Sport activities at all times.
Experience of working with the general public, children and customer care is essential, as well as experience of working in a busy kitchen/café. You must also be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
