Mountainhall Daycare is looking for a new member of staff to cover holidays and join our small team of Care & Support workers. You will be looking after and supporting older people to achieve their individual outcomes in a variety of ways.

With a person-centred approach, this rewarding opportunity will see you working with people (predominantly over the age of 65) providing support, both social and personal, in a safe, warm, friendly environment. Tasks are varied and are likely to include:

  • Supporting with personal care
  • Assisting with medication
  • Encouraging interaction
  • Assisting with different activities from baking to playing bingo
  • Encouraging movement and socialising

If you are caring, friendly, positive, and are not afraid to be silly with excellent communication skills and an ability to work within a small team, this could be a very rewarding role for you.

We provide more than just a job; we offer fantastic training. Flexibility is essential. This is a casual post, with hours from 9 to 3, Monday to Friday. A current full UK driving licence is essential. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

An SVQ level 2 in Social Care or equivalent is desirable but not essential initially as full training will be provided; however, you will be required to complete this.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

With an exciting benefits package, working for Dumfries and Galloway Council supports you to invest in your own health and wellbeing. Employees have access to our bespoke Vivup platform with over 800 discounts on everyday essentials from top UK retailers, restaurants, utility providers, and more. Employees also get access to membership of The Local Government Pension Scheme (Scotland), exclusive discounts from local businesses, a Cycle-to-Work scheme, financial support from My Money Matters, and guidance from our trained Wellbeing Champions.
