We're recruiting one Roads Operative to join our Roads Service teams at Castle Douglas. You'll play a key role in maintaining and improving the region's road network, working outdoors in a practical, hands-on environment.
What You'll Do
- Carry out a wide range of road maintenance and construction tasks
- Lay paving slabs, kerbs, concrete and asphalt
- Undertake drainage works
- Set up and remove temporary traffic management (signs, cones, barriers)
- Support winter maintenance, including gritting, snow clearance and flood response
- Summer standby; weather - flood response, general enquiries
- Operate plant and machinery such as rollers, mini excavators, disc cutters and breakers

- Practical, hands-on approach with a focus on safety
- Ability to work as part of a team in all weather conditions
- Willingness to take part in winter maintenance duties
- A full driving licence is highly desirable
- Interest in gaining further qualifications - opportunities for goods vehicle training are available
