We're recruiting one Roads Operative to join our Roads Service teams at Castle Douglas. You'll play a key role in maintaining and improving the region's road network, working outdoors in a practical, hands-on environment.

What You'll Do

  • Carry out a wide range of road maintenance and construction tasks
  • Lay paving slabs, kerbs, concrete and asphalt
  • Undertake drainage works
  • Set up and remove temporary traffic management (signs, cones, barriers)
  • Support winter maintenance, including gritting, snow clearance and flood response
  • Summer standby; weather - flood response, general enquiries
  • Operate plant and machinery such as rollers, mini excavators, disc cutters and breakers

  • Willingness to take part in winter maintenance duties
  • A full driving licence is highly desirable
