Come and join our award-winning team of the ASSIST-FM Contribution to Cleaning 2022 and the APSE Building Cleaning Innovation Award 2023.

We will train you to be part of our dynamic and reactive customer facing building facilities team to provide essential janitorial and cleaning tasks in our local buildings. We need someone that can work within a small team, work independently, and be self-motivated.

The post holder will provide essential building safety tasks throughout Dalbeattie Learning Campus, Dalbeattie. Flexible working hours will be required on Saturdays and Sundays to cover School Lets. Duties will include building and grounds access and security, monitoring lets and supporting lets organisers where requested, spot-cleaning between lets and at day end.

We will provide you with training in cleaning tasks, use of equipment and chemicals, and general health and safety.

You will work 10 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. Times of work will be discussed at the interview.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

Requirements: Good communication skills are essential.

This post is fixed term for up to 12 months. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
