Dumfries | 28 hrs – 12‑month fixed term contract | £30,716 – £33,071 Pro Rata

What’s the Job?

We’re looking for an Assessor to join the Skills Delivery Team to deliver the following qualifications:

  • Team Leader SCQF level 6
  • Management SCQF level 7
  • Management SCQF level 9
  • Management SCQF level 11

The Skills Delivery Team is responsible for delivering certificated and bespoke professional courses, SVQs, MAs and Open Learning courses in a college that aims to be one step ahead. The Work‑based Learning team are a growing and evolving team who deliver SVQs and Modern Apprenticeships.

Who we’re looking for?

We’re looking for a person who has relevant qualifications and experience, who is enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and someone who would enjoy supporting candidates to be the best they can be.

You should have recent experience working in management and be able to demonstrate continuous professional development.

Essential skills for this role include the ability to work both within a team and independently, good administrative skills and being target driven. Experience as an assessor/verifier is desirable but training and certification will be provided.

To succeed in the role, you will have some or all the following:

  • Relevant Qualification at a minimum of SCQF Level 9 (e.g. Degree, Graduate Diploma/HND/SVQ)
  • Experience of working in a management role
  • Experience of working in a similar assessing role is desirable but not essential as full training will be offered
  • Excellent time management and planning skills are required to manage a portfolio of candidates
  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using MS Office is essential, with experience using online portfolio systems desirable
