We’re looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Porter to join our Commercial Development and Delivery Team, supporting the successful delivery of our evening cooking classes. As a Kitchen Porter, you’ll provide essential practical support to our chef instructors and learners during evening cooking classes. You’ll help ensure the kitchen is clean, safe, organised and ready for each session, allowing our chefs and students to focus on developing their cooking skills. Washing dishes, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment promptly and efficiently Maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen work areas, floors, walls and storage areas Supporting chefs with basic food preparation tasks when required Ensuring kitchen equipment and work areas are clean and ready for use Disposing of waste and recycling in accordance with health and safety procedures Using cleaning materials and chemicals safely and storing them correctly Following food hygiene, health and safety and College procedures at all times Helping to maintain a safe, tidy and organised working environment You’ll take pride in your work and understand the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety in a kitchen environment. Takes a positive and flexible approach to supporting others Has an interest in working in a kitchen or catering environment Previous experience of working in a professional kitchen, catering or a similar environment would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential. Full training and support will be provided. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in a professional kitchen environment, develop your practical skills and play an important role in supporting the delivery of our popular cooking classes. The role offers flexibility and can work well alongside other part-time employment, study or other commitments. Classes are delivered mainly during the evening and follow the College’s academic calendar. Practical experience in a kitchen environment is desirable Food Hygiene certification is desirable Strong customer service, organisation, teamworking, and relationship-building skills. Adaptability to evolving digital tools and a willingness to continuously improve digital competencies.
