Responsibilities

  • To report to the Young Carers Manager in the provision of services for Young Carers/Young Adult Carers.
  • To offer information, advice and support services to Young Carers and Young Adult Carers, their families and professionals as appropriate and to publicise and promote Young Carers activities.
  • To work with Young Carers and Young Adult Carers individually and in groups.
  • Provide advocacy where appropriate or support to access independent advocacy.
  • To assess the needs of Young Carers/Young Adult Carers and establish the support required from the Project.
  • To assist in the development and delivery of age appropriate activities for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers including evening work & occasional residential breaks.
  • To prepare and distribute information: a) for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers b) about Young Carers and Young Adult Carers issues.
  • To raise awareness about the needs of Young Carers and Young Adult Carers within the statutory, private and voluntary sector.
  • Establish and maintain links with relevant professionals in health, social work, education and third sector.
  • To encourage and enable Young Carers and Young Adult Carers to constructively voice their needs and advocate where necessary.
  • To attend regular Carers Centre staff meetings, Young Carers staff meetings and supervision.
  • To attend training sessions where appropriate and adhere to Health & Safety, Child Protection and Adult Support & Protection requirements.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Young Carers Manager and the Board of Trustees.
  • To participate in promotional activities relating to the work of the organisation including giving presentations.
  • To collect statistical and other relevant information, including on unmet need, required for monitoring and reporting purposes and produce reports/information as required.
  • To assist Young Carers to develop a Young Carer Statement.
  • To assist Young Adult Carers to develop an Adult Carer Support Plan using an outcome focused approach.
  • Identify and support Young Adult Carers to access and participate in mainstream services.
  • Complete Young Carers and Young Adult Carers case notes and ensure accurate records are maintained on the Centres Database.
