We are seeking an exceptionally organised and discreet Clerk to the Governors, working closely with the Chair of Governors, Head Master and Bursar to support effective and compliant governance. This key role ensures the Governing Body operates within legal and regulatory frameworks, with responsibilities including:

  • Providing professional advice on governance best practice
  • Meeting and agenda preparation
  • Minute-taking
  • Governor recruitment and onboarding
  • Statutory record-keeping
  • Maintaining governance information

You will also act as the operational lead for GDPR and data-protection administration, managing Subject Access Requests and maintaining the statutory policy schedule.

If you are proactive, principled and committed to high-quality governance support, we would be delighted to hear from you. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is excellent attention to detail and the ability to work professionally with senior stakeholders. Governance or clerking experience is desirable, but training can be provided.

This is a term-time-only role, working 20 hours per week, normally over three days per week, with some flexibility to accommodate peaks in workload throughout the year. Attendance at all Governor meetings (around six per year in the evening) will be required, as will attendance at relevant INSET days and key school events.
