Dulson Training Ltd was established in 2013 and specialises in the delivery of logistics driver training to employees working in the sector and the general public. We are looking for an instructor with a proactive approach and passion for training to join our team. You will be delivering Driver CPC and HGV driver training for new and existing students. As a HGV instructor, you will be training students to DVSA test standard, carrying out practical driving assessments and delivering course training materials with a high degree of detail. Delivering Driver CPC will be a part of this role, and full training and support will be provided.
Day-to-day duties:
- Explaining the course contents to potential candidates
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks on training vehicles
- Carrying out driving assessments to identify training needs
- Deliver practical and theoretical instruction to candidates on required vehicles
- Completing all relevant course and training documents
- Delivery of HGV driving courses to DVSA test standard
- Assess learners' prior knowledge and build on that to prepare candidates for test
- Provide Mod 3a (reversing) training in preparation for test
- Provide Mod 3b (on road) training in preparation for test
- Deliver Mod 4 (CPC) training in preparation for test
- Ensure by use of appropriate teaching methods that participants have a sound knowledge of the 'Highway Code'
- Complete relevant training paperwork and record accurate information
- Support and guide learners so they can reflect on their learning
- Deliver Classroom and Remote Driver CPC
- Promote Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Health and Safety to learners
- Liaising with the site management and Admin team
- You may be required to work from different Dulson Training sites, as well as customer sites
- You may be required to work away at customer sites nationwide. Accommodation will be provided with night away bonus and food allowance
- You may be required to work occasional Saturdays
- You will be required to help maintain and keep tidy the company sites, and keep vehicles clean and tidy
- Assist the office team as and when required
Essential skills:
- Must hold a minimum of a Category C+E entitlement for over 3 years
- Other categories or training qualifications are a bonus including Cat D, MIDAS, Forklift, ADR, Transport Manager and ADI
- Strong communication skills and a patient approach
- Previous experience in a driver training environment would be advantageous but not essential
- Excellent level of accuracy and good standards of literacy when writing reports
- Ability to talk to a wide range of people in a confident manner
- Good time keeping and professional appearance
- Ideally already registered with NRI, RTITB or relevant DVSA licence acquisition qualification (Training can be provided)
- A good standard of computer literacy
- To work as part of a team with a good degree of flexibility
Qualifications / Knowledge Required:
- HGV C+E Driving Licence (3 years minimum)
- 3 Years' worth of HGV driving experience
- Excellent communication skills to deliver accurate information
- Instructor qualifications beneficial, but full training will be provided
