What is CAT C+E Training? Cat C+E is the licence you need to drive articulated large goods vehicles. Popular uses for Cat C+E vehicles are to move large quantities of goods both locally, nationally or internationally. Cat C+E training teaches you to drive these vehicles and prepares you to pass the DVSA Cat C+E driving test.

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE

Once you pass the Cat C+E test, the DVSA will update your licence and send you a new one. Your new licence will display your new qualification and allow you to drive these larger vehicles. If you will be using your new qualification to drive professionally you will need a Driver CPC qualification, this will be arranged for you to coincide with your Cat C+E training course. You will usually not need a Driver CPC to drive for leisure, for example, driving a motorhome or horsebox.

DURATION OF THE COURSE

Course durations vary depending on your experience and confidence. We encourage everyone to discuss this with us and help determine the correct amount of training that you will need to stand the best chance of passing the test, and have the confidence to drive these vehicles on your own after the test. The standard duration of a Cat C+E course if you have already passed the Cat C test is between 16 and 20 hours, ideally spread over 4 or 5 days. The standard duration of a Cat C+E course if you are skipping the Cat C test and doing it directly is between 24 and 32 hours, ideally spread between 5 to 8 days. We will always work with you to try and fit the course around your schedule.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

Our starter pack includes everything you need to get started including a medical, theory training and theory tests. You will not need this if you have already passed a Cat C test. Once the starter pack is complete we can arrange the driver training course and tests. The driver training will include a 3a (off-road reversing test) and 3b (on-road driving test) all arranged by us. We will supply an easy-to-drive Cat C+E vehicle for the training and tests. If you require a Driver CPC to drive professionally we will offer guidance, training and tests to gain this 5 year qualification. We will be with you at every step, offering guidance and support to make sure the process is completed efficiently. We also offer an additional optional training session after you pass the tests on the specific vehicle that you will be driving, or if you would rather focus on enhancing any specific techniques, we can spend time on this during this session.
