Duke\’s is looking for a Vac Truck Operator to join our Plymouth-based crew!
Power the Work That Keeps Cities and Towns Running
At Duke’s, we don’t just clean underground systems — we keep them working safely and efficiently to protect public health and infrastructure. As a Vac Truck Operator, you’ll operate high-powered vacuum and jetting equipment to clean and maintain pipelines, vaults, tanks, and related systems. This role is vital to ensuring that water and wastewater systems flow smoothly in the communities we serve. If you’re mechanically inclined, enjoy physically active work, and want to make a difference, this is a great opportunity to grow with a team that values safety, accountability, and teamwork!
What You’ll Do
- Abide by all safety policies and procedures, including wearing required PPE for your safety.
- Operate vac trucks and hydraulic jetter systems to thoroughly clean a range of underground assets — including small and large diameter pipes, vaults, and tanks — ensuring all work meets technical specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct detailed pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, monitor equipment performance throughout the day, and perform minor field maintenance or troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.
- Safely transport vac equipment to and from project locations, including towing off-road or easement-access tools as required for specific site conditions.
- Access and clean underground structures using fall protection systems, gas detection monitors, and ventilation gear while following strict safety protocols in confined or hazardous environments.
- Collaborate closely with fellow crew members to coordinate field activities, maintain job site safety, and ensure each task is completed efficiently and in alignment with project goals.
- Accurately complete required documentation — including time sheets, equipment logs, and cleaning reports — within established timelines to support operational tracking and compliance.
- Support special projects and step into additional responsibilities as needed, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to evolving field demands and project priorities.
Apply now if you:
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Are at least 21 years of age
- Have at least six (6) months of vac truck driving and operations’ experience
- Have a valid CDL (Class A or B) with a clean driving record; tanker endorsement and air brakes preferred
- Are willing to undergo a background check, MVR check, and pre-employment DOT physical and drug screen
- Are willing to travel in and out of state depending on project needs, with occasional weekend work required as needed
- Are willing and able to lift and carry up to 65+ pounds multiple times per day, navigate uneven ground, and perform physically demanding tasks
- Are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and within confined spaces (i.e., manhole), often involving kneeling, crawling, and physical maneuvering
- Have working knowledge of digital tools like smartphones, tablets, email, and data collection systems, or willing to learn new technology
- Have strong verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with field crews
- Are willing and able to safely use fall protection gear, gas monitors, ventilation systems, and full PPE including boots, safety vest, hard hat, gloves, and eye/ear protection
- Are capable of performing all job responsibilities in environments that may include sewage, strong odors, noise, humidity, and extreme temperatures
- Willing to complete all job tasks with or without reasonable accommodation
