The Dukes Head is an iconic riverside pub in Putney just 10 minutes walk from Putney Bridge, East Putney and Putney rail stations. We are a large and diverse business operating over 3 floors including our Dukes bar, Coxswain restaurant, Rowing Club cocktail bar & Wolsey Room for private hire. This makes any role within the pub a challenging and exciting prospect for any applicant.

What we are looking for in our Sales and Booking Manager:

  • To delight our customers every time through the communication and delivery of party and event pre-booked sales.
  • To support the success of the business through the implementation of sales and events plans, driving booking conversion, proactive selling and creating reasons to visit.

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Delight our customers by delivering service excellence and demonstrating behaviours in line with our vision and values.
  • Engage with our customers and act as an ambassador for Young’s.
  • Take ownership for dealing with customer queries and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Support team members and communicate well with the whole team, front and back of house.
  • Deal with enquiries, bookings and requests in a timely and professional manner whilst actively promoting the business, maximising turnover and delivering service excellence.
  • Take ownership for personal development and be willing to learn new skills and explore opportunities to continually improve and progress.
  • Attend central sales training when required.

Our Offer:

  • Assist the General Manager in identifying potential opportunities, packages and menus to maximise sales and enhance the customer experience.
  • Proactively drive booking enquiries for social and corporate occasions, through proactive outreach, marketing, networking and building relationships.
  • Drive sales for key seasonal campaigns (Summer parties, Weddings, Engagement parties, Christmas).
  • Drive sales through digitally marketing the business; sending sales driving mailers and engaging social posts.
  • Maintain industry awareness understanding the competitive market and take appropriate action to ensure the pub stays ahead in the marketplace.
  • Understand customer needs (occasion, budgets, expectations, confidence, trust) and act appropriately.
  • Maximise sales by best use of all areas of the business, identifying opportunities and time slots to increase pre-booked sales and driving spend per head.

Our Processes:

  • Through the effective use of business processes and systems, manage business performance against financial targets and standards set out by GM.
  • Develop and implement an ongoing strategy and quarterly sales driving marketing plan to maximise private hire opportunities and customer engagement.
  • Support and deliver pre and post shift briefings to ensure effective communication of all parties and events.
  • Manage use of the tills and handling of deposits in line with company standards.
  • Maintain an ongoing sales plan and evaluate activities to ensure they add to the profit of the business.
  • Manage all inbound booking enquiries efficiently with maximum conversion through Collins.
  • Drive spend through suggestive selling and pre-sold packages/items for all parties and events.
  • Host face-to-face meetings and show arounds with customers.
  • Build new relationships and establish new business with customers and corporates to drive sales.
  • Plan and host events, driving reasons to visit and increasing footfall and sales.
