Hampton Court House is an award-winning independent co-educational day school for ages 2 – 18, educating children and young people from pre-nursery to Year 13. The majority of our 300+ pupils elect to stay on to complete their full education with us, enjoying high levels of academic success in their GCSEs and A levels with high acceptance levels at Russell and Oxbridge Group and prestigious international universities.

As well as being a highly selective academic school, we strive to lay the foundation of a lifelong love of learning and it is important to us that children enjoy being here and look forward to coming to school. Our non-uniform parkland campus, in which staff and pupils alike are addressed on a first-name basis, cultivates an atmosphere in which our pupils can explore their curiosity and individuality, while developing their own self-awareness and self-confidence.

Hampton Court House is set in acres of landscaped grounds overlooking Bushy Park. Walking through the gates at HCH transports our children to a special place where they can thrive and flourish, where they are respected and valued as independent and autonomous individuals, and where they are known and deeply cared for by every member of staff.

We are seeking a well-qualified graduate to lead a highly effective and well-established English Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for English in Years 7 to 13 and will work closely with the English lead (Prep) on curriculum overview and transition.

Experience in leading, or helping to lead, a secondary English department or whole-school function would be desirable, though applications will be considered from all candidates. Applications are welcomed from colleagues in the independent or state-maintained sectors. The post would suit an ambitious current second in department or key stage postholder; Hampton Court House offers its own competitive salary scale.
