Role Overview

Sancton Wood Nursery is seeking a friendly, organised, and professional Part Time receptionist to lead our reception. This role sits at the heart of the Nursery's life and plays a key part in ensuring that every parent, pupil, visitor and colleague experiences the warm, welcoming and supportive atmosphere that defines our community. As the first point of contact each morning, you will help create a calm and efficient front office environment while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery. This is a varied and people-focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm and professional welcome to all visitors, parents, pupils, and contractors
  • Act as the main point of contact for telephone and email enquiries
  • Ensure every interaction reflects the nursery’s values and community spirit
  • Coordinate clear and effective handovers between morning and afternoon reception staff to maintain continuity
  • Carrying out general administrative tasks to support the nursery team

Safeguarding, Security & Attendance

  • Follow visitor sign-in and security procedures to help maintain a safe nursery environment
  • Support pupil registration processes, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding and child protection procedures

Administrative Support

  • Assist with general administrative tasks such as photocopying, laminating, and document preparation
  • Provide day-to-day support to the wider nursery team to ensure smooth operations

Teamwork & Flexibility

  • Work collaboratively with the wider nursery staff
  • Provide flexible support during busy periods or staff absence

Person Specification

Essential

  • Friendly, approachable, and professional manner
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a receptionist, administrative, or front-of-house role
  • Experience working within a school or educational setting
  • Awareness of safeguarding and attendance procedures
