Hours Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:30pm (30 minutes lunch) and Friday 8:00am – 2:00pm.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you\’ll do at work

As a Welder Fabricator, you will learn, through observation, instruction, practical and day release to college, the skills and experience needed to perform your job efficiently and to the highest standard.

Complying with statutory regulations and safety requirements you will learn how to work efficiently in an engineering environment.

Your roll will include;

  • Preparing work & the work area safely ready for work
  • Producing a range of welded components using Mig & Tig using manual and automated techniques
  • Rollers and conveyors

Where you\’ll work

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

You will be required to attend Advance 2 Campus, Dudley College, 1 day per week, in term time only.

  • You will recieve the Level 2 Engineering Operative – Fabrication and Welding qualification upon successful completion of your apprenticeship.
  • You may also complete Functional Skills in English and maths if required
  • You will be assigned an assessor who will visit you every 8 weeks in the workplace to support with your apprenticeship.

More training information

You will be provided with in house mentorship to support with your apprenticeship in the workplace.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade D/3/Level 1 Functional Skills)
  • Maths (grade D/3/Level 1 Functional Skills)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
