You will provide effective support to Practice Management and administrative and clinical teams by processing medical and non-medical communications (via DOCMAN, Lexacom, post, email) and provide services across various teams within the organisation as required.

Wage: £15,392 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (37 hours a week)

Duration: 1 year 6 months

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Undertake postal services for the practice – franking outgoing post, opening incoming post daily and date‑stamp each document.
  • Define, scan and attach all incoming correspondence to relevant folders, working towards attaching to the patient record using DOCMAN functionality.
  • Process incoming postal documents to GP’s daily.
  • Complete administration via the Emis website, including finding matching patients whose details have not matched with the system.
  • Process all weight‑management and diabetic eye screening results.
  • Maintain the summarising excel spreadsheet.
  • GP2GP functionality on Emis.
  • Summarise medical records.
  • Review and code cervical smear results.
  • Effectively manage nominated areas of responsibility.
  • Be part of the team responsible for providing ad‑hoc services across both the Clinical Support Officers and the wider practice.
  • Maintain confidentiality and be aware of General Data Protection Regulations and security of patient data.
  • Effectively manage nominated area of work as directed by the Team Leader.
