This is a hands-on leadership role for a shop technician who is ready to run the floor, not just work it. As Shop Lead, you bridge daily shop operations and upper management, keeping refurbishment projects on schedule, mentoring junior technicians, and making sure every unit leaves the yard meeting strict quality standards. They buy, sell, lease, and fully refurbish critical surface equipment, including separators, gas processing units, and dehydration systems. Their Darlington facility is growing, and they need a hands-on leader to drive quality, safety, and efficiency across refurbishment operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinate daily shop tasks, assign work orders, and manage workflow so refurbishment projects finish on schedule.
- Lead complex mechanical rebuilds, assembly, fabrication, and testing of production equipment such as separators, GPUs, treaters, and dehydration units.
- Coach, train, and mentor junior shop technicians to build their technical skills and safety awareness.
- Inspect incoming equipment assets and perform final quality assurance checks on refurbished units before they ship.
- Enforce a strong safety culture and keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with OSHA and company standards.
- Provide occasional on-site technical support or leadership during field installations and specialized maintenance projects.
- 5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience with upstream oilfield production and processing equipment.
- Proven ability to lead a small team, delegate effectively, and keep shop morale high.
- Strong knowledge of oilfield vessel mechanics, piping, valves, instrumentation, and standard refurbishment and fabrication processes.
- Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced industrial shop environment, handle varying shop and outdoor conditions, and lift heavy equipment components.
