Compliance Officer in Walsall

As Compliance Officer, you will play an important role in helping us keep our homes and communities safe. Working closely with the Asset Compliance Manager (ACM) you will support the delivery of fire, asbestos, water and wider compliance activities across our assets. This includes supporting the implementation of Watmos' compliance and safety framework, while ensuring accurate, high-quality information is maintained in relation to regulatory, legislative, and non-statutory requirements governing landlord compliance activities. You will assist with the management of building safety policies, processes and contracts including assisting the ACM with auditing work for internal staff, contractors and suppliers to ensure all works are completed to a high standard.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of relevant legislation and health and safety requirements, together with a clear understanding of the factors that drive effective compliance. Excellent organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage stakeholders confidently and deliver high-quality, customer-focused services. Strong IT proficiency, complemented by outstanding interpersonal skills, and the confidence and credibility to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation are also vital.

Job Purpose

• Work with the ACM to achieve full alignment with all regulatory, legislative, and non-statutory requirements for landlord compliance activities (Electrical, Gas, Water Hygiene, Asbestos, Lift Safety, Fire)
• Assist the ACM in maintaining high-quality information regarding compliance with regulatory, legislative, and non-statutory requirements for landlord compliance activities (Electrical, Gas, Water Hygiene, Asbestos, Lift Safety, Fire).
• Assist the ACM with the implementation of Watmos' compliance safety framework across all risk areas of their responsibility.
• Assist the ACM with the management of building safety policies, processes and contracts for landlord compliance activities (Electrical, Gas, Water Hygiene, Asbestos, Lift Safety, Fire).
• Work with the ACM in the management of Watmos fire safety, asbestos management, water safety, lift safety, Electrical Safety and Gas safety cyclical programmes and risk register.
• Assist the ACM in auditing work of internal staff and external contractors/suppliers involved in the delivery of compliance works to ensure that works are completed to a high standard.
• Support in the management of the compliance performance and risk management dashboards ensuring that performance targets are achieved, and plans are developed to address performance issues and prepare timely reports that provide assurance to stakeholders.
• Aid and support maintaining cross functional links throughout the department, providing advice, and assisting with day-to-day work tasks.
