Academic Mentor for English Intervention & the Welfare Hub at Queen Mary’s Grammar School, Walsall. The role aims to provide targeted academic intervention and structured individual support for vulnerable students, focusing on improving GCSE English outcomes and supporting students accessing the Welfare Hub.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead small‑group GCSE English and literacy intervention for selected Year 10 and Year 11 students.
- Plan and deliver small, targeted lunchtime KS3 literacy clubs to promote reading confidence and writing fluency.
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group academic mentoring within the Welfare Hub for students with SEND, SEMH, anxiety, or other barriers.
- Collaborate with English department, SEND and pastoral teams to ensure joined‑up, purposeful support that improves attainment, engagement, attendance and reintegration.
- Work flexibly within the school environment, sharing expertise to enhance the learning experience of all students and drive up academic achievement.
Salary
Pay range: NJC SCP 9–17.
