Level 2 1:1 Teaching Assistant – to assist and support the teaching, learning and wellbeing of a child who has an Education Health Care Plan. The role will begin in Key Stage 1 (the child is currently in Year 1 and will move into Year 2 in September). The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCo, class teachers and the wider team to create a supportive, safe and structured environment for the child.
Responsibilities
- Support inclusion by enabling the child to access learning, socialising and play opportunities.
- Develop positive and nurturing relationships with the child and amongst school staff.
- Work under the direction of teaching staff and the SENCo.
- Assist with the planning, evaluation and delivery of learning activities.
- Undertake learning activities and adapt them to meet the child’s individual needs.
- Support the child’s social and emotional development, promoting high self‑esteem and resilience.
- Implement behaviour management techniques and intervention strategies in collaboration with other professionals.
- Monitor and document progress and any necessary adaptations.
- Contribute to the creation of a safe, supportive, and structured environment that encourages learning.

Medical Clearance and Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children; the post is subject to medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All applicants must be able to provide documentation to prove their right to work in the UK.
Remuneration and Contract
Salary: £17,627.22 – £18,310.77 (actual), term‑time only, 39 weeks. The first year salary will reflect the number of working days remaining in the holiday year. Temporary – initially for the academic year 2026‑27, 30 hours per week. The contract will cease at the end of the stated period or when the child is no longer under the care of Mount Pleasant Primary School, whichever comes first. The start date may be September 2026 or earlier if possible.
