Level 2 1:1 Teaching Assistant. To assist and support the teaching, learning and wellbeing of a child who has an Education Health Care Plan. The role will begin in KS1 (the child is currently in Year 1 and will be moving into Year 2 in September) and the desire to work collaboratively with colleagues and to be involved in the full life of the school is essential. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCo, class teachers and our wider team to create a supportive, safe and structured environment for the child.

Responsibilities

  • Support inclusion by enabling a child to access learning, socialising and play opportunities.
  • Develop positive and nurturing relationships.
  • Work under the direction of teaching staff and SENCo.
  • Support the teacher in the planning, evaluation and delivery of learning activities.
  • Undertake learning activities and adapt according to the child's needs.
  • Building positive relationships, promoting high self‑esteem and resilience.
  • Promoting high standards of behaviour in a supportive way.
  • Supporting a child with complex learning needs.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and intervention strategies.

Key Information

  • The post is subject to a medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
  • All applicants must be able to provide documentation to prove their right to work in the UK.
  • Salary: £17,627.23 – £18,310.77 per annum (term time only, 39 weeks).
  • Contract: Temporary, 30 hours per week, term time only, starting September 2026 (or earlier if possible). The contract will cease at the end of the academic year 2026‑27 or when the child is no longer under the care of Mount Pleasant Primary School.
