Youth Justice Service Worker - Dudley YJS (Part time, 18.5 Hours Per Week)
A vacancy has arisen and we are offering you to join our team. You will work towards offering young people an alternative approach to engagement, focusing on therapeutic interventions such as art and music. We are keen to embed a Child First approach to working with all children and believe that championing the positive factors already present in their lives will give us the best chance of achieving this.
We are seeking to recruit a Youth Justice Service Worker to support children and young people who attend Court. Ideal candidates will possess specialist working knowledge of Youth Justice Court work, social work and youth justice practice in children’s services, experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
As a YJS Worker you will demonstrate qualities that assist the management team in providing an effective service that meets the individual needs of young people and families to reduce and prevent further offending. You will also assist with specific functions of the YJS, such as group‑work delivery and casework.
You must be able to demonstrate a pro‑active approach to engaging and supporting children and young people who are subject to out‑of‑court disposals and statutory court orders, both within the community and custodial settings, in accordance with legal requirements, national standards and local policies.
Being a reflective practitioner will enable you to demonstrate an efficient approach to time and task management, possess key skills to produce work in a timely manner and show competency in representing the service within a variety of settings including risk‑management forums.
You must hold a recognised Youth Justice, Social Care or Social Work qualification, or a degree‑level qualification in a related area of expertise.
