Dudley Virtual School is committed to promoting and improving the educational outcomes of children looked after, previously looked after, children in kinship care and children with a social worker. We are seeking an energetic, motivated and passionate individual to support our children and young people to ensure they make the best educational progress possible. This is a unique and rewarding role within the Virtual School, offering opportunities to:

  • Work collaboratively with schools, social care, carers and multi-agency partners
  • Hold a caseload and provide direct support, advice and challenge
  • Contribute to the development of strategic priorities and projects across the service

Qualifications:

  • Experience of working with vulnerable children and young people, with an understanding of the complex issues facing children in care and care leavers, and how these experiences impact learning, engagement and academic achievement.
  • Considerable knowledge of teaching and learning, including a strong understanding of children with special educational needs and the strategies that promote inclusion and progress.
  • Knowledge of supporting children and young people from Nursery through to Post‑16, recognising the developmental stages, curriculum expectations and support needs across the age ranges.
  • A clear understanding of the need to deliver an excellent service for children in care and to provide robust, strategic advice and guidance for previously looked after children, children in kinship care and children with a social worker.
  • A commitment to championing the educational rights and achievements of our cohort, and to working collaboratively to secure the best possible outcomes.
