The Assistant Planning Officer Post offers an opportunity for existing planners, recent graduates, or soonâtoâbe graduates from either a planning (or a related degree) or a Planning Masters course, who wish to gain experience early in their career in an effective Local Planning Authority committed to supporting officersâ professional development.
Responsibilities
- Work within the planning policy team to prepare the Local Plan and other policy documents, including research, policy formulation and participation in consultation events and independent examinations.
- Assist in the preparation of supplementary plans, masterplans and development briefs.
- Contribute to the development of the West Midlands Spatial Development Strategy and other regional initiatives.
- Participate in the planning policy teamâs work on strategies for growth at both the local and regional level.
Qualifications
- A related degree (e.g., Geography, Environmental Sciences, Built Environment) or a Planning Masters degree.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong analytical, research and written communication skills.
- An ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
