Dawley Brook Primary School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Deputy Headteacher who is ready to join our thriving and inclusive primary school on the next step of its exciting journey. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our Headteacher, established senior leadership team and committed staff in shaping the future of our school.
The Deputy Headteacher will ensure that the school’s inclusive ethos — “Work Hard. Be Kind” — continues to underpin every aspect of school life. Their leadership will remain grounded in classroom practice and directly connected to the pupils and staff they work alongside.
Dawley Brook Primary School is a one-form entry community primary school with a strong reputation for inclusion, care and high expectations. Working in partnership with our small but supportive community, we take collective responsibility for the success we expect of all stakeholders.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection (March 2024) highlighted that Governors and school staff share high expectations of what pupils can achieve. They become confident, motivated learners who are well prepared for their next schools and the challenges beyond. The passion for the curriculum shines through and there is a drive to have a highly bespoke curriculum, which has the rich industrial history of the local area at its heart.
In September 2023, we opened our Oak Tree SEND Unit, a Local Authority commissioned specialist resource provision for children with Education, Health and Care Plans identifying communication and interaction as primary need. Oak Tree operates as an integral part of our inclusive school community: The highly inclusive culture is one of the standout features of Dawley Brook. Pupils who have struggled elsewhere thrive here (Ofsted March 2024).
This academic year will see extensive Local Authority capital investment in our Oak Tree SEND Unit leading to further places being available towards the start of 2026/27.
We are now seeking an exceptional Deputy Headteacher who will balance excellence in mainstream education with a motivation to further develop our specialist SEND Unit — ensuring that every pupil at the school belongs, achieves and thrives.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop the school’s inclusive ethos and high expectations in line with the statement “Work Hard. Be Kind.”
- Collaborate with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to shape the school’s strategic direction and improve learner outcomes.
- Work with the Oak Tree SEND Unit to ensure inclusive practice and high-quality provision for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans.
- Maintain a strong link between classroom practice and school leadership, ensuring leadership is grounded in day-to-day teaching and pupil progress.
