Join Beacon Hill Academy as a Science Technician, supporting inspiring practical learning. You will coordinate the use and maintenance of laboratories, equipment and resources, prepare materials, construct and modify apparatus, and ensure facilities are safe, organised and fully stocked. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, organised individual with strong technical skills and a passion for Science education, and is a fixed‑term role to cover the maternity leave of the current postholder. The Academy is located in Woodsetton to the east of Sedgley.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the use and maintenance of laboratories, equipment and resources.
  • Prepare materials, construct and modify apparatus, and ensure facilities are safe, organised and fully stocked.
  • Provide advice and hands‑on assistance to teaching staff to deliver engaging demonstrations and meet the practical demands of the science curriculum.
  • Deliver practical support during the maternity cover, working within a fixed‑term arrangement.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all laboratory settings.

Requirements

  • Strong technical skills in science laboratory practices.
  • Organisational and proactive work ethic.
  • Passion for Science education.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance and safety compliance preferable.
