Responsibilities
- Help teach and coach people of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique and confidence in the water.
- Focus on technique-based but fun teaching with the philosophy of practice makes permanent.
- Plan and deliver sessions appropriate to the level of swimmer; provide explanations and demonstrate swimming techniques; correct faults and identify ways to improve performance.
- Set ground rules for each session; evaluate sessions and give feedback; regularly assess each participant’s ability and progress and arrange for the award of the relevant certificates.
- Maintain safety standards, ensure safe provision and use of all equipment, and undertake risk assessments.
- Be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment to motivate children and adults to participate in swimming.
- Differentiating coaching to meet individual needs and support learners with additional needs or barriers to learning.
