We are looking for a Building Surveyor to join our small, collaborative team based in Bath, supporting the delivery of maintenance, refurbishment, and new-build projects across a diverse rural estate spanning Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset and Gloucestershire.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Building, you will oversee a varied portfolio of residential, agricultural, and commercial properties, undertaking condition surveys, diagnosing defects, and managing both planned and reactive works through to completion. You will play a key role in preparing designs, specifications, and tender documentation, administering contracts (typically JCT), and coordinating external contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
You will also ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including planning, listed building consent, and building regulations, while contributing to sustainability initiatives such as thermal upgrades. Regular liaison with tenants and stakeholders is key, alongside monitoring progress on site and maintaining quality standards.
You will be degree-qualified (or equivalent through experience) and ideally chartered (RICS or similar), with strong experience in building maintenance, refurbishment, and project delivery. A solid understanding of traditional and historic buildings is essential, along with knowledge of CDM regulations and construction health and safety. Experience managing projects under JCT contracts, good financial control, and proficiency in AutoCAD LT, NBS Chorus, and Microsoft Office are expected.
Contract: Fixed term for 12 months. Location: Based in our Bath office, with travel across the estate as required.
If you are an organised, detail-focused professional with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to managing a varied property portfolio, we would love to hear from you!
