Location: Duchess Nursery Abingdon
Hours: 40 hours per week - spread over 4 or 5 days.
Salary: £29,000 per year, dependent on experience & qualification.
Reports to: Nursery Manager / Deputy Manager

We are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated Qualified Room Leader to join our team. As a Room Leader, you will play a key role in the development and care of children in our setting, ensuring the highest standards of early childhood education and care.
As our Room Leader, you’ll be the captain of your very own ship! You’ll guide a team of passionate educators, inspire your little learners, and ensure that every child has an experience filled with joy, exploration, and growth. From designing exciting learning activities to ensuring a nurturing, safe environment, you’ll be at the heart of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of practitioners to provide high-quality care and education for children within your designated room.
- Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that meet the individual needs of the children.
- Ensure the room is a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff members.
- Monitor the children's development and provide support to other team members in observing and assessing progress.
- Getting the children school ready.
- Support the management team with day-to-day operations and maintain nursery policies and procedures.
- Promote equal opportunities and inclusive practice.
- Be a role model for staff, guiding and supporting them with their professional development.
- Lead by example in ensuring that the nursery's safeguarding policies are adhered to at all times.
- Take responsibility for key children and maintain their learning journey records.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, NVQ Level 3, etc.).
- Previous experience working in a childcare setting, with a proven track record of leading a team.
- Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
- A passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
- A good understanding of safeguarding practices.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
