Location: Dublin, Ireland

Role Summary

The role arises within the ERC Synergy Grant-funded JUSTICE project. The post-doctoral researcher will work across multiple research questions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of Principal Investigators.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading research on MRQ1 by mapping compliance of 100 jurisdictions with the Méndez Principles, developing a compliance scale, collecting data, and creating an open-access interactive map.
  • Conducting detailed analyses of 30 selected jurisdictions using expert questionnaires and surveys of police officers, prosecutors, lawyers, and academics.
  • Preparing, conducting and analysing Action Studies in 6 jurisdictions involving police officers, lawyers, actors, and other participants.
  • Under MRQ3, designing, conducting and analysing qualitative interviews with individuals who experienced coercive interrogation in at least 10 jurisdictions.
  • Performing doctrinal research on legislation, case law, policy documents, and reports from national and international agencies and civil society groups.
  • Contributing to the development of project methodology, refining data methods, managing ethical and privacy concerns, and assisting with administrative tasks such as ethics applications, conference organisation, website maintenance, report drafting and project documentation.

Salary Scale: IUA Postdoctoral Researcher Salary Scale – PD1 Point 1 to PD1 Point 2 (€46,805 to €47,405).
