Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor in General Nursing (Women’s Health) within the School of Nursing, Psychotherapy & Community Health at Dublin City University.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules related to general nursing and women’s health, supporting student learning, mentoring and supervision of student projects and research. They will contribute to programme administration, clinical placements, research supervision and service and external engagement activities of the School and University. The post is based on the Glasnevin Campus and reports to the Head of School.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver modules using a range of teaching and assessment methods that promote deep learning and equip students with skills for lifelong learning.
  • Enhance and develop existing modules and programmes, and design new modules where appropriate.
  • Provide research supervision for taught postgraduate students.
  • Develop a research agenda, publish in high-impact journals, generate research income, and contribute to conferences, seminars and other research activities.
  • Participate in School and University committees, working groups and meetings; engage in accreditation activities; and represent the School in marketing, student recruitment and stakeholder engagement.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD (or equivalent) in nursing or a relevant discipline (or a Masters with substantial clinical experience and a commitment to pursue a PhD during a five-year fixed term).
  • Candidates must have four years of clinical experience in women’s health nursing if they do not hold a PhD.
  • Registered or eligible to register with the General Nursing Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives (NMBI).
  • Strong clinical background in women’s health nursing, demonstrated teaching experience in an academic or service setting, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Evidence of research activity, peer-reviewed publications, and capacity to attract research funding.

  • AI Literacy and other relevant training as required.

Salary Scale

Assistant Professor above bar – €64,583.00 to €103,501.00 (enquiry for exact figure).
