We are seeking a highly skilled Generator Controls System Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of generator control systems, from initial site surveys and panel design to on-site commissioning and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Design & Panel Building: Design, develop, and oversee the construction of electrical control panels for generator and power distribution applications.
  • ComAp Integration: Configure and troubleshoot ComAp generator controllers (e.g., InteliGen, InteliSys), including synchronisation, load sharing, and remote monitoring.
  • System Surveys: Conduct detailed site surveys and inspections of existing mechanical and electrical generator equipment to assist in project design and proposals.
  • Commissioning & Testing: Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and carry out on-site commissioning in liaison with electrical contractors.
  • Fault Diagnostics: Read and interpret LV and HV electrical schematics to identify and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
  • Compliance & Logic: Implement and test circuit breaker switching logic, interlocks, and protection schemes, ensuring adherence to G99/G59 grid protection requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in generator control systems or a similar electrical engineering role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of ComAp controllers and software suites (e.g., ComAp PC Suite).
  • Electrical Design: Strong understanding of LV and HV schematics, switchgear control, and protection systems.
  • Standards: Working knowledge of electrical safety standards, including BS 7671 and IEC standards.
  • Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for reviewing and editing panel layouts and schematics.
  • Licensing: Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel to various customer sites.
Desirable Experience
  • Knowledge of alternative control systems like DeepSea or Woodward.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, TCP/IP) and remote monitoring platforms.
  • Certification in HV switching operations or electrical safety.
