A well-established, standalone organisation of approximately 200 staff is seeking an experienced IT Manager to take ownership of internal IT operations and security. This is a hands-on leadership role in a business that operates independently, with outsourced IT support in place. The successful candidate will act as the internal technical lead - triaging issues, overseeing service delivery, and ensuring systems, services and data remain secure, stable and well managed.
You will act as the internal owner of IT across the business - responsible for day-to-day operational oversight, service performance, and the organisation’s security posture.
You will:
- Triage and coordinate internal IT issues before escalation to the MSP
- Hold external providers accountable for performance and standards
- Oversee infrastructure, M365, endpoints, networks and core systems
- Lead incident management and recovery planning
- Own security policies, risk management and compliance activities
- Coordinate audits and respond to client security questionnaires
- Promote security awareness and pragmatic risk management across the business
This is not a pure governance role. It requires someone who understands how systems actually work and is comfortable bridging operational IT and security.
Qualifications:
- Strong hands-on IT infrastructure background
- Experience managing or overseeing outsourced IT services
- Solid working knowledge of cyber security principles and risk
- Comfortable acting as the senior IT point of contact for the business
- Experience within professional services or regulated environments preferred
- Commercially aware and pragmatic
- Certifications are advantageous but not essential.
