Senior Cyber Security Engineer needed for a newly created position within a growing security function at this enterprise sized not for profit organisation.This is a hands-on, varied role sitting at the heart of a mature security operation, youll be engineering, responding, remediating and mentoring.What youll actually be doingWorking alongside Cyber Security Analysts and an external SOC, youll be the technical backbone of the teams day-to-day security operations. That means triaging and responding to incidents, working with SIEM outputs, tuning EDR and email security tooling, and tracking vulnerabilities through to remediation.Beyond the operational work, youll be embedded into IT projects from the start - reviewing designs, identifying risk and making sure security is built in rather than bolted on. Youll also take ownership of hardening the Microsoft/Azure environment, manage endpoint protection and access controls, and support third-party onboarding assurance.Theres a mentoring element too - this is a senior position and youll be expected to bring junior colleagues along with you.What theyre looking for5+ years in cybersecurity, with strong hands-on technical depthSolid experience across endpoint, network and cloud security Azure/Microsoft stack in particularComfortable working with outsourced SOC functions and SIEM platformsFamiliar with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials PlusCertifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH or GIAC are a plusThis is a genuinely stable, values-driven employer with a strong social purpose and a 60-person IT team working to a fresh strategy.If youre a cyber security professional based in or around Greater Manchester looking for a role with real scope and a strong benefits package, get in touch for a confidential conversation.TPBN1_UKTJ
