The Impact You Will Have in This Role:
As part of the Clearing & Securities Services (CSS) team, the Embedded Risk Manager plays a critical role in transforming the first line of defense by embedding risk-aware, data-driven, and AI-enabled decision-making into core business operations. You will act as a strategic partner to product and business leadership—proactively challenging and guiding the identification, assessment, and management of risks. This role goes beyond traditional risk oversight, focusing on predictive and forward-looking risk management, leveraging data analytics, automation, and AI/ML-driven insights to enhance risk visibility, anticipate emerging threats, and improve control effectiveness. You will provide independent and constructive challenge on the design and effectiveness of internal controls, ensuring alignment with control testing and issue management frameworks. By integrating technology-enabled risk insights into business decisions, you will help drive more timely, informed, and resilient risk outcomes.
Primary responsibilities:
- AI-Enabled Risk Insight & Transformation: Embed advanced analytics, automation, and AI/ML insights into risk identification, assessment, and monitoring processes. Drive the shift from reactive to predictive risk management, enabling early identification of emerging risks and control weaknesses. Champion the use of data, dashboards, and digital tools to enhance transparency, decision-making, and risk reporting. Partner with business and technology teams to integrate AI-enabled risk considerations into product design and operational workflows.
- Risk Assessments & Data-Driven Reporting: Lead the production and continuous enhancement of CSS Risk and Control self Assessments, incorporating data-driven insights and forward-looking indicators. Deliver high-quality, analytics-based risk reporting (monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc) across legal entities. Provide impactful risk insights and metrics to senior management, including Board and Risk Committees, leveraging visualization and trend analysis.
- Risk Management & Business Integration: Execute the end-to-end risk management framework (identify, assess, monitor, report) aligned to enterprise strategy and the Corporate Risk Framework. Embed risk and control considerations into daily operations, supported by real-time data and automated monitoring where possible. Partner with the New Initiatives Office (NIO) and Product teams to ensure new products are risk-assessed using scenario analysis, data insights, and AI-informed considerations.
- Incident Management & Root Cause Insight: Lead independent review and challenge of risk incidents, ensuring robust root cause analysis that identifies systemic drivers and not just symptoms. Partner with business teams to translate incident learnings into effective control design and enhancement, strengthening the overall control environment. Leverage data, trend analysis, and scenario insights to identify recurring themes and proactively prevent future incidents. Ensure lessons learned are embedded into risk assessments, control frameworks, and business processes to drive continuous improvement.
- Issue & Action Lifecycle Management: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of issues and action plans, ensuring data-driven validation of remediation effectiveness and sustainability. Leverage trend analysis and root cause insights to identify systemic issues and improve self-identification capabilities. Monitor issue performance metrics through automated reporting and dashboards, escalating risks in a timely manner.
- Control Environment & Testing Optimization: Provide independent challenge over control testing programs, promoting more efficient, data-driven, and automated testing approaches. Evaluate control effectiveness using quantitative insights, trend data, and scenario-based analysis. Ensure governance, risk, and control (GRC) data is accurate, current, and optimized for analytics and AI use cases. Align risk and control processes into day-to-day responsibilities to mitigate, monitor, and escalate risks appropriately, including the timely resolution of incidents.
- Governance, Training & Digital Enablement: Deliver risk and control training with a focus on data literacy, digital tools, and AI-enabled risk management practices. Partner with enterprise GRC and transformation programs to advance technology-enabled risk capabilities and standardization. Lead regulatory reporting with an emphasis on accuracy, traceability, and data integrity.
- Risk Culture & Conduct: Promote a strong, forward-looking risk culture grounded in data-driven decision-making and responsible AI use. Encourage proactive risk identification, continuous improvement, and ethical application of emerging technologies. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance efficiency through automation and intelligent solutions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
Talents Needed for Success:
- AI & Digital Mindset (Key Differentiator): Strong inclination toward AI-driven risk insights, automation, and data-led decision-making.
